     The Russian McDonald's
Russian-owned successor of McDonald's reopens in Moscow. The first of former McDonald's restaurants is reopened with new branding in Moscow.

Two months later, McDonald's decided to leave Russia altogether and sold its 850 restaurants to Alexander Govor, who held licenses for 25 franchises in Siberia.

Govor is moving fast to reopen the shuttered outlets. It wasn't until a couple of hours before the Pushkin Square restaurant opened that the Russian chain's new name was announced: Vkusno-i Tochka (Tasty-period).

(Tasty-period) Does that mean that you can only visit once a month?

     Sriracha shortage.
Attention hot sauce fans: There is likely to be a shortage of Sriracha sauce in the days and weeks ahead. Blame the weather.

Huy Fong Foods, maker of the popular Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, said a shortage of chili peppers is limiting its ability to produce several of its in-demand sauces, including its Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek. The California-based company cited climate conditions as part of the problem.

     Tom Brady is coming back.
TAMPA, Fla. -- Tom Brady's retirement lasted 40 days.

Brady said Sunday he is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season in the NFL. The seven-time Super Bowl champion announced his decision on Twitter and Instagram, saying he has "unfinished business.''

"These past two months I've realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,'' Brady wrote. "That time will come. But it's not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I'm coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa.''

Black Panther' director Ryan Coogler was falsely accused of being a bank robber.
Oscar-nominated 'Black Panther' director Ryan Coogler was falsely accused of being a bank robber and was detained by police after trying to withdraw his own money ($12,000) from Bank of America.

I stated to the officers that arrested me, that had their glocks out, that I was pulling money out of my own account, Coogler said in the video, as he was freed from handcuffs.

His experience led to a public apology from Bank of America, and widespread public backlash over the bank's incompetence. It's similar to the story of a Black lawyer, who was denied when he tried to cash a settlement check.

Coogler, who is best known for directing the films Black Panther and Fruitvale Station had handed a teller a withdrawal slip on Jan. 7, asking for $12,000 in cash. He showed his ID and also wrote instructions for the bank teller on the back of the withdrawal slip, stating I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I like to be discreet.

In a bodycam video, the bank teller told the Atlanta police that she received a notification from Coogler's account alerting her that his withdrawal request was a high risk transaction, which she called a "red flag". She also was skeptical based on Coggler attire. He has on sun shades, he has on a black hat. Those are the red flags we look for in the bank the teller said in the Jan. 7 bodycam footage, citing the bank's security protocols. She also added that she was pregnant and worried about her personal safety and whether or not Coogler was sketchy.

His experience led to a public apology from Bank of America, and widespread public backlash over the bank's incompetence. It's similar to the story of a Black lawyer, who was denied when he tried to cash a settlement check.

Critics say that Bank of America has a history of anti-Black sentiment.

     President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a hero to his people, a brave leader. A hero to me too. I really hope that he prevails over the tyrant.

Too bad he can't run for president in the United States because I would definitely vote for him. When was the last time the United States had a president with that much character?

Facebook to Pay $550 Million to Settle Facial Recognition Suit.
I have been at a standoff with Facebook for a couple of months because they won't allow me access to my account until I allow them to take a face picture of me.

Facebook has settled a long-running legal dispute about the way it scans and tags people's photos.

It will pay $550m (£421m) to a group of users in Illinois, who argued that its facial recognition tool was in violation of the state's privacy laws.

The case has been ongoing since 2015, and the settlement was announced in its quarterly earnings.

It comes as facial recognition use by the police, and in public spaces, comes under intense scrutiny.

A Ukraine Invasion Could Go Nuclear.
A Ukraine Invasion Could Go Nuclear: 15 Reactors Would Be In War Zone.

As Russia’s buildup on the Ukrainian border continues, few observers note that an invasion of Ukraine could put nuclear reactors on the front line of military conflict. The world is underestimating the risk that full-scale, no-holds-barred conventional warfare could spark a catastrophic reactor failure, causing an unprecedented regional nuclear emergency.

Gun owners in Los Angeles to carry firearm liability insurance.
Three Los Angeles City Councilmen introduced a motion Wednesday to explore a potential ordinance to require gun owners in Los Angeles to carry firearm liability insurance.

The motion was introduced Wednesday by Councilmen Paul Koretz, Paul Krekorian and Mitch O'Farrell.

The ordinance would be modeled after one in San Jose that requires liability insurance through homeowner's or renter's insurance. That ordinance also requires an annual fee that is used for evidence-based initiatives that aim to reduce gun violence.

49ers fan in coma after apparent beating outside SoFi Stadium.
Police are investigating the apparent beating of a San Francisco 49ers fan found severely injured in the parking lot of SoFi Stadium during Sunday's NFC championship game against the Rams.

Daniel Luna, a restaurant owner from Oakland, remains hospitalized at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in what Inglewood police said was a medically induced coma.

Luna, 40, was discovered on the ground by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics in the stadium's Lot L about 4 p.m., half an hour into the Rams-49ers contest, said Inglewood Police Lt. Geoffrey Meeks. Luna was wearing a San Francisco jersey and black pants, Meeks said.

Emergency room staff at Harbor-UCLA noted wounds suggesting Luna had been attacked and contacted Inglewood police later that night.
