     Shutdown?
Any bets out there?

From the Hill (mostly centrist, but with a slight left tilt)

As a preliminary matter, this is a good fight to have — good politically and good for the nation. Our federal government is projected to run up between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion in debt this year alone. The Congressional Budget Office projects that outlays this year will be $6.4 trillion with only $4.8 trillion in revenues.

I say shut it down, why keep COVID level spending when we are no longer in lock-down?

But I bet people here will disagree & want to follow a misplaced Keynesian model.

     Is the Pac 12 dead?
Wow, conference realignment is really something this year.

Down to 4 members?

Crazy - and here I thought the Big 12 was dead after loosing their two dominant programs, yet it looks like they will survive with their additions.

I wonder whom the Pac12 might attract to make up for their really big losses.

I doubt they will be able to attract anyone from the other 'power' conferences that haven't moved recently.

I wonder who they might pick from the "also ran" conferences.

     Top 10 OC hotels
No particular order:
If it helps any gals out, great - any guys to navigate, good too.

1. La Quinta Inn - Wyndam - 5 &133 - ample free parking, part of a little shopping complex so cars going in & out all the time, free parking. This is the old concrete silos that were converted to a hotel. Kinda weird, but concrete walls - so presumably zero noise complaints would be possible. Front desk in separate building Minimal security. No thin hotel walls here - make all the noise you want.

2. The Atrium, across the street from John Wayne. Low rise, older, as its a airport hotel, lots of traffic, and with the side door (near the Hilton) Always unlocked, Parking is the downside, but there is free parking less than two blocks away. As it's a bit older, they seem to be a little more lax about things.

3. John Wayne Hilton, tower hotel, gets lots of corporate traffic, front desk to the side so if you enter in the back where the pool is, there is conference space there where you just walk past the bar hang a right & there's the elevators (yes, near front desk) As it's a Hilton, if you know their standards, you know what to expect. Nice.

4. The Renaissance Newport Beach - Birch & Von Karman. Park at the Carl's Jr. across the street - large nice more resort hotel - nice rooms, clean - there is security/ valet - but as with most security, as long as you aren't dressed like homeless person, no hassle, higher end.

5. DoubleTree - Santa Ana - First time there, I went to the WRONG doubletree (wasn't paying close attention to address)- they are essentially across MacArthur from each other. Short term free parking on the northern one (30 minutes) - the one by the lake is part of a larger complex where no easy parking - large lobby, minimal security - easy access in and out.

6. Anaheim Marriot Suites - Harbor & Chapman - Plenty of free parking - there is also a Homewood and another Marritot "Delta" brand next door. The suites, are nice, separate closed off bedroom, park in the back of the hotel & go in the back where the meeting space is - walk towards the front, very small front desk (for the size of hotel), & elevator to your floor. If I knew girls were at this hotel, I would see them, Plenty of traffic so any guests simply blend in, especially if you wear any mouse apparel. Nice place, corporate feel.

7. Extended Stay - Irvine on Technology - it's a motel, but mostly clean, newer, nice, Park at the starbucks & walk around back - no fuss, no muss - as it is a bit of lower rent, the girls that I have seen there typcially are a bit lower rent as well. (asian mills)

8. Best Western - 55 south of 73 near the golf course. Yeah, a motel, but super easy - park in back, entrance in back, take the stairs to the floor - you will never see the front desk. Zero security other than housekeeping. Easy freeway access - not much traffic, smaller motel, but with backdoor entrance (no pun meant), it's a great place to have fun.

9. Boutique hotel - South Coast Plaza - Tribute portfolio Hotel. Park at southcoast plaza on the east next to Bristol - footbridge over & past performing arts ctr. & walk in hotel - trendy hotel, front desk is hard to avoid, unless you go in the side entrance where the restaurant is on the right. Long hallways, but nice boutique hotel. Gives a nice vibe. The gal I saw there was on the ground floor and her room had a nice little courtyard secluded/ concealed by screening trees.

10 Cal State Marriott - generic "normal" mariott - as it's attached to the University, lots of traffic, I think it might be part or connected somehow to their hospitality program - so you could hang out all day and never be noticed. College feel.

Lookng at CNN.com and others, it appears Trump is still president.
Take a look at most "main stream" media webpages.

Any day of the week.

It's all about Trump.

You mostly have to go "below the fold" to see any articles about Biden.

Shouldn't that be reversed?

Might be if Biden actually had any accomplishments, and Trump wasn't more popular than Brain Dead Biden.

This does not bode well for the democrats.

     Stagflation
I was listening to a governmental economist today that raised the prospect of stagflation as a real concern.

Real concern or no?

     Ever present Veep
Have you noticed in pretty much every speech Biden gives, wherever he is, signing, press event, standing there in the background is the VP.

I don't remember other VP's standing there in the background - I don't remember Pence always in the background - Biden himself probably had better things than hang behind Obama>
Thinking back over former POTUS/VP's
Bush - Cheney
Clinton - Gore
Bush - Quayle
Reagan - bush
Carter - Mondale

None I don't think to the best of my recolection was carrying the water of the president.

But I could be wrong.

Possible misstep going after trump in impeachment.
Everyone has heard the phrase,

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Who would Dems rather see suffer - one man, or the entire republican party?

I'm would think it's the republicans as a whole, not just one man.

If Nancy P & the Dems really want to hurt the Republicans - why go after trum?

Most on the left want the republicans never to hold office again - right?

The departing president of any party is the leader until the next nominee right?

If the Dem's want to do damage to their opponents, what could be better for them than trump leading the party, which if trump is so corrupt and bad as they say he is - wouldn't he bring more damage to the republican brand than anything they could do? The goal is to destroy their opponent up and down the ticket right?

Just a thought.
